Nice–Bastia ferry: what the readings show
On the Nice–Bastia route, a single carrier appears in our readings of 1 July 2026: Corsica Ferries. The 40 lowest dates listed for the trip with car and cabin, like the 36 recorded for the foot passenger, all carry that company; no other direct Nice → Bastia crossing was observed. The choice here is therefore not about the company but about the departure port and the date — two levers with considerable swings.
The month that changes the bill
For a foot passenger in a reclining seat, the fare drops to €30.20 in September (€36.42 on average across the month), while August posts the highest average, €55.29. August's floor stays low even so: €32.20 on Thursday 20 August, one isolated date priced near September's level inside an otherwise expensive month. July sits between the two, at €38.91 on average (minimum €33.00), and October climbs back to €43.73 on average (minimum €41.00).
The trip with car and cabin does not follow the same curve. The heaviest month is not August but June: €191.50 on average for 1 adult + car, €230.50 for 2 adults, €284.50 for 2 adults + 2 children. September is the cheapest month on average for all these car profiles: €121.80 for 1 adult, €151.70 for 2 adults, €197.30 for the family of four.
The floor fare, though, does not always land in September. The lowest price observed for 1 adult + car is €98.00, on Thursday 27 August — below September's minimum (€108.00); for 2 adults, the floor is August too at €129.00 on 27 August, against €134.00 in September. Only for the family of four does September combine the lowest average and the lowest floor, at €174.00 on Friday 25 September. Put differently: the foot passenger pays the most on average in August, the motorist in June, but a few August dates open car floors below September's.
The day of the week weighs in too
For the foot passenger, Thursday is the cheapest day on average (€37.00), ahead of Friday (€39.03); Saturday is the dearest (€54.90), on a par with the August average. For trips with car and cabin, the trough shifts to Friday (€128.63 on average for 1 adult + car) and the peak stays on Saturday (€178.14). Leaving on a Saturday with a car therefore costs nearly €50 more on average than a Friday on that same profile.
Leaving from another port to reach Bastia
From Nice, the foot passenger starts at a minimum of €30.20 (€44.73 on average). Three ports do better at the minimum, all served by Corsica Ferries: Toulon from €27.60 (€39.45 on average), Savone from €28.90 (€42.74) and Livourne from €30.00 (€40.43); Piombino starts just above Nice, at €32.00 (€44.13). At the other end, Genoa only goes as low as €50.75 via Moby Lines and Marseille €54.37 via Corsica Linea — close to double the Toulon floor. Sète, at €41.00, appears at only one price level in our readings (identical minimum and average). The departure port weighs more here than the date: the gap between leaving from Toulon and from Marseille exceeds the September–August gap out of Nice.
