Ajaccio–Marseille: what our readings of 1 July 2026 show
On the Ajaccio–Marseille route, two companies operate: La Méridionale and Corsica Linea. Our readings cover eight months — January, then June to December. We have no readings yet for February, March, April or May.
August: the average soars, the minimum holds low
For an adult foot passenger with a reclining seat, January sits fixed at €36.95 (minimum and average alike). The gap with August is stark: the recorded average there climbs to €92.40, while the month's minimum stays at €58.95. Those €33.45 separate August's floor from its average: the month's minimum remains within reach even when the recorded average runs high. From September the average drops back to €47.08 (minimum €38.95), then to €38.79 in October and €37.05 in November — close to January's level. June (€71.38 average, €58.95 minimum) and July (€71.06 average, €57.91 minimum) form an intermediate plateau below the August peak.
The same pattern reappears, amplified, on tickets with a car and a cabin. For one adult, a car and a cabin, January starts at €133.22 while August posts a €408.43 average for a €160.22 minimum: the spread between August's floor and its average reaches €248.21. For two adults with car and cabin, you go from €163.17 in January to a €480.26 August average (minimum €212.17). And for two adults, two children, car and cabin, the August average tops out at €561.70, against €213.07 in January and an August minimum still at €288.07.
The gap between weekdays stays moderate
Tuesday comes out as the cheapest day across all four profiles. For the foot passenger in a reclining seat, Tuesday's average is €52.11, against €58.58 on Saturday — a gap of €6.47. With two adults, car and cabin, Tuesday drops to a €221.94 average while Saturday climbs to €284.54. The day you pick matters, then, but far less than the month.
La Méridionale lower in our readings, Corsica Linea above
Of the 209 cheapest crossings recorded for the foot passenger in a reclining seat, La Méridionale takes 176 (minimum €36.95, average €47.25) against 33 for Corsica Linea (minimum €57.91, average €91.12). The eight cheapest dates for this profile are all carried by La Méridionale at €36.95, spread from October to January. The company gap widens with a car: for two adults, car and cabin, La Méridionale posts a €216.77 average against €363.92 for Corsica Linea, and for two adults and two children, €275.25 against €458.77. The average saving from choosing the cheaper company runs from 10.8% (adult + car + cabin) to 31.7% (foot passenger in a reclining seat).
The two companies share the Pascal Paoli on this route. On that ship, the price gap for one and the same crossing has reached €307.25 between Corsica Linea and La Méridionale: the boat is the same, the fare is not.
Leaving from another Corsican port
Among the Corsican ports recorded for Marseille, Porto-Vecchio is the cheapest departure point with La Méridionale (from €34.62, €51.06 on average), ahead of Ajaccio (from €36.95, €54.17 on average). The three other recorded ports go through Corsica Linea: L'Île-Rousse (from €47.01), Bastia (from €47.50) and Propriano (from €56.64). Leaving Corsica from Porto-Vecchio rather than Propriano lowers the entry price by €22.02.
